The Sikh American Chamber of Commerce Internship ProgramThe Sikh American Chamber of Commerce (SACC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship within the community, providing a forum for effective business networking and assisting other Sikh American professionals in the continued growth of their businesses. The SACC Internship Program is designed for college students who are interested in gaining valuable experience working with a non-profit organization. The interns will have the opportunity to work hands on with the Sikh community and raise awareness of the organization. Available InternshipsOperations InternsOperations Interns will work directly with the Operation Manager to assist with the day-to-day operations of the organization including mailing, filing, and drafting correspondence such as thank you letters and member inquiries. Operation interns will also assist with organizing business networking and promotional events to drive membership and organizational awareness. Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated and able to work independently. Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Products: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint are required. Community Outreach InternsCommunity Outreach Interns will promote the SACC’s mission in the Sikh business community. This opportunity offers direct and ongoing contact with community members, business owners, and future entrepreneurs. Project work will feature community engagement through various tools including interviewing, surveying, workshops, meetings and discussions. Interns must have strong oral and written communication skills. Fluent knowledge of Punjabi is required. Technology InternsTechnology Interns will assist the IT department with infrastructure management (desktop, server and network), maintenance of the web site, development of the CRM software, and management of the Social Media Networking sites. Interns must be self-motivated and take directions well. They must have strong communication skills, both written and oral. IT interns must be in pursuit of a degree in computer science, information technology or engineering. Sales and Marketing InternsSales and Marketing Interns will gain valuable experience assisting with web site, social media and e-mail communications, developing sales and marketing materials, and promoting business networking events. Interns will gain valuable experience working directly with members and sponsors. Applicants should be in pursuit of a degree in sales, marketing and advertising. Interns must have working knowledge of Web and social media and have strong communication skills. PowerPoint, Word, Excel experience is a bonus. Knowledge of Punjabi is a plus. Accounting and Finance InternsAccounting and Finance Interns will gain valuable experience with financing and accounting practices of a non-profit organization. Interns will assist with managing various financial components including monthly financial reports, bookkeeping, company forecasting, budgeting, accounts receivable, accounts payable and bank statement reconciliation. Knowledge of accounting software such as QuickBooks is a requirement. Business Administration InternsBusiness Administration Interns should possess a strong interest in non-profit administration, management and development. Interns will assist with the development of our membership base and benefits package, evaluation of our programs, fundraising efforts, preparation of meeting agendas, securing sponsors, growing youth programs and general administrative tasks. Applicants should be hardworking, dependable, detail oriented, willing to learn, express interest in business management, networking, and cooperative management skills. Basic computer skills are required. Legal InternsLegal Interns will gain practical experience working in conjunction with member law firms. Interns will assist with conducting legal research and writing including legal memos, briefs, and research documents. Legal interns will also provide clerical support and general case management. A legal internship is ideal for students who are thinking about pursuing a career in law. Applicants should have strong legal research, writing and analytical skills. |
